Our Commitment to Sustainability

At NZ Wineries, we have a profound respect for nature, we meticulously manage the inputs and outputs of our wineries and the surrounding environment. As we don't own vineyards ourselves, our commitment to the environment is deeply rooted in our winemaking process. Partnering with Toitū, we are actively reducing our carbon footprint and refining our practices with the goal of creating exceptional wines that respect and preserve our planet.

As we embark on this journey, we’re continuously looking for ways to reduce emissions, optimise energy use, and minimise waste in every stage of production. This means adopting cutting-edge technology, sourcing responsibly, and always striving to be better environmental stewards.

Our solar panel installation is progressing nicely. Once complete, this system will nearly power the entire Liverpool Street site outside of harvest periods, delivering an impressive 600 amps of solar energy.

During harvest, when our winery energy use ramps up significantly, Marlborough Lines supplies us with up to 2,800 amps to keep everything running smoothly. With Marlborough boasting around 2,700 sunshine hours each year - and about 70% of that time usable for solar generation - we’re making the most of our sunny region to drive sustainability forward!

Our dedication to sustainable practices ensures that our natural world thrives, allowing future generations to experience the beauty and bounty of Marlborough.
